Farmers Market, Harvest Position

Job Description: Wandering Roots Farm is looking for an experienced person to run our Farmer’s Market booth. We do 2 farmer’s markets each week on Tuesday and Thursday. We are looking for applicants with 3-5 years of experience working on mixed vegetable farms along with experience in selling produce for these farms. We are looking for someone outgoing and friendly but who also has a strong physical work ethic for loading and unloading the truck, which requires someone to be in good physical shape and be able to lift 60 lbs. Presentation of our produce at market is very important to us. Applicant will work initially with farm owner learning how we set up and run our market stand. After the initial training period, applicant will be in charge of running the booth along with one other person, who will be under their supervision. Applicant must be able to work both markets throughout the season, which runs March through November. This position also includes harvesting Monday, Wednesday and Friday along with our other team members. Experience harvesting and doing markets is a must for this position. The workweek would be Monday harvest, Tuesday market, Wednesday Harvest, Thursday market, and Friday Harvest. This is a very busy and demanding position. Other tasks throughout the season will include weeding, seeding in greenhouse, and weekend greenhouse watering. We also grow an acre of Hemp for Flower production. In the late fall, winter and early spring the work will mostly be bucking and trimming hemp. This person will have most weekends off except for the rotation of weekend greenhouse watering. Pay for this position will range from $18-$20/hr as long as your experience fits the job description. At the end of the market days, produce can be traded to obtain other market items, along with taking leftover produce home for consumption. This position takes someone who has tough mental and physical strength to endure all conditions of farming and also a great personality with good customer service to be the face of our farm. It is an exhausting position day in and day out. Spanish Speaking is a plus as we have a few workers that only speak Spanish. There is housing available for this position as well.

About Us: Wandering Roots Farm is a mixed fruit and vegetable farm nestled in the Rogue River Valley between Medford and Grants Pass. This coming season will be our 12th year in production. We sell at two farmers markets per week and distribute to a variety of local restaurants and grocery stores twice a week. We will have about 6 acres of vegetables in annual production. On top of the annual vegetables we grow, our perennial list includes strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, asparagus, grapes, and a 3-acre mixed fruit and nut orchard. We also have 3 hoophouses that we produce winter and summer crops intensively in.

Field Crew, Harvester Position

Job description: Wandering Roots Farm is hiring field crew members for the 2024 season. We are looking for people who have worked at least a full season on a production vegetable farm. Main tasks will include transplanting, hoeing, hand weeding and harvesting. This position is 40-45 hours per week. Spanish speaking is a plus.
